چکیده

We proposed Wireless LAN (WLAN) localization method that enhances database construction based on weighting factor and analyses the characteristic of the WLAN received signals. The weighting factor plays a key role as it determines the importance of Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI) value from number of received signals (frequency). The fingerprint method is the most widely used method in WLANbased positioning methods because it has high location accuracy compare to other indoor positioning methods. We analyses WLAN RSSI characteristic from anechoic chamber test, and analyze the causes of various distributions of RSSI and its influence on location accuracy in indoor environments. In addition, we proposed enhanced weighting factor algorithm for accurate database construction and compare location accuracy of proposed algorithm with conventional algorithm by computer simulations and tests.

The Death and Rebirth of Privacy-Preserving WiFi Fingerprint Localization with Paillier Encryption

Localization based on premeasured WiFi fingerprints is a popular method for indoor localization where satellite based positioning systems are unavailable. In these systems, privacy of the user’s location is lost because the location is computed by the service provider. In INFOCOM’14, Li et al. presented PriWFL, a WiFi fingerprint localization system based on additively homomorphic Paillier encr...

An Analysis of Device-Free and Device-Based WiFi-Localization Systems

WiFi-based localization became one of the main indoor localization techniques due to the ubiquity of WiFi connectivity. However, indoor environments exhibit complex wireless propagation characteristics. Typically, these characteristics are captured by constructing a fingerprint map for the different locations in the area of interest. This finger print requires significant overhead in manual con...

A Robust Crowdsourcing-Based Indoor Localization System

WiFi fingerprinting-based indoor localization has been widely used due to its simplicity and can be implemented on the smartphones. The major drawback of WiFi fingerprinting is that the radio map construction is very labor-intensive and time-consuming. Another drawback of WiFi fingerprinting is the Received Signal Strength (RSS) variance problem, caused by environmental changes and device diver...

Indoor WiFi Localization with a Dense Fingerprint Model

WiFi-based localization is a popular approach for positioning a WiFi-enabled device in an indoor environment. Most implementations rely on querying fingerprint databases, created by stop and go sampling of WiFi signals at discrete locations used as reference points. In this paper, we propose an approach for rapid creation of a dense WiFi fingerprint database using a human operated ambulatory ba...

Utilizing Automated Robots to Recalibrate WiFi Fingerprint Maps for Indoor Location Estimation

WiFi fingerprinting is a localization technology that leverages existing wireless infrastructures in indoor settings. Although fingerprints can be calibrated to a high degree of accuracy, the precision of such maps changes due to environment changes. We propose a system that automatically re-calibrates the WiFi fingerprint maps using a mobile robot. As the robot traverses the building, it encou...
